A dangerous toxic present in many products

It was suspected that this microbicide included in many everyday products could be a substance that alters the hormonal system, that is, that it would act as a dangerous endocrine disruptor and may even be carcinogenic.

More than two years ago, scientist Guodong Zhang of the University of Massachusetts published a study that showed that this product produced intestinal disorders that led to colitis and colon cancer. In addition, it can accumulate in breast milk affecting the neurological development of babies and their sexual development.

WWF and Greenpeace have been denounced for years that it entails environmental and health risks. We talk about “triclosan.” The authorities say that its use is safe in the amounts usually used in industry, but does not take into account that, being a widely used substance, its cumulative effect exerts a real danger to citizens and the environment.

What products can it be found in? The variety is so high that we will only mention the most important: dentifrices, soaps, shower gels, deodorants, softeners, creams to moisturize the skin, diapers, t-shirts, various clothes, bedding, adhesives, paints, toys, carpets, elements of feminine hygiene and many others. The Colgate company has recently decided to remove this microbicide from its toothpastes and the United States FDA is conducting in-depth studies to make a decision about its possible ban or limitation.

What can you do as a consumer? Get used to reading the composition of the products you buy and consider whether it is worth the risk of acquiring those that include triclosan in its composition.

On the other hand, try to lead a healthy life, with adequate natural food and, periodically, perform some detoxifying treatment to help your body to get rid of these products that pollute and get sick.
